San Antonio, TX

It’s happening!

This is officially the start of my travel and photography blog! Please enjoy my ramblings. 🙂

Yee-haw.

— every Texan, ever.

So, I decided to visit some really great friends in San Antonio a few weekends ago. This decision was made how all great decisions should be made: on a whim.
I was just browsing flights on my phone (per usual lol) and saw that a round trip flight was only like $100 for a few weekends in September/October. It took all of two seconds for me to text Jenn (hey shoutout @jenniferdanuff ;)), buy the flights and email my boss when I’d be out.

And then there I was, touching down (40 min early- thx Frontier) at SAT 6 weeks later!

I got to spend Thursday night to Sunday night exploring all parts of San Antonio and Fredericksburg (aka Texas Wine Country). I can confidently say: I LOVE TEXAS!
There are so many things to do, places to eat and bars to drink at.

We started with the Pearl, a true hub in central San Antonio– even on a Thursday night! It is filled with so many amazing food options. From the Food Hall to the award-winning restaurants, the list of options just keeps on going. We then continued through the historic Hotel Emma where we got to walk through the old brewery (disguised as dry cleaning and auto repair during the prohibition!!) now transformed into a modern tavern and clubroom. Right outside the Hotel Emma in the courtyard sits Southerleigh’s outdoor Oyster BarI 10/10 recommend the cherry limeade sangria; it was probably my favorite drink I’ve ever had! It is made with all of my favorite things and served in an “adult Capri Sun”-like pouch with a curly straw. You honestly can’t go wrong.

On Friday Jenn and I ventured into Essex Modern City– a secluded graffiti art park (after grabbing brunch at the ever-so-delicious Snooze AM Eatery). Here are some of the pictures I took!

I can only imagine what concerts are like out there! We then continued on to Alamo Beer Company (another really cool venue)! The beer was refreshing and a nice stop before hitting the Hays Street Bridge for more pics. Luckily, the light posts served as a nice tripod and we were able to figure out my self-timer for some cute shots!

Saturday was truly a treat. We started off the day with breakfast at Alamo Biscuit Co. & Panaderia which was just as delicious as it was affordable! It was the perfect amount of carbs to pair with all the wine and cheese that we had the rest of the day in Fredericksburg.
But holy wow, Texas Wine Country is no joke!! We drove about an hour to get to a very quaint town that barely even felt like Texas when we arrived. With no exact destination in mind, we headed to “Wine Road 290”— which completely lived up to its name. Home to more than 19 wineries in the span of only a few miles, we definitely had some hard decisions to make. We started the journey at Barons Creek Vineyards. It was probably one of the most luxurious (and also pricey) wineries. But the aesthetic was gorgeous and the wines were pretty delicious too. I would say definitely worth the stop (even if only for some pictures on the outdoor patio).

Our next stop was probably my favorite! Signor Vineyards was absolutely stunning. A bottle of the Grenache Rose’ paired with a small cheese plate was the perfect way to enjoy the notorious Texas heat. We opted for a trio of lounge chairs on the lawn underneath the shade of the oak trees. It was peaceful and wonderful.

Finally, we rounded out the day with one of a few experiences I shall never forget. Altstadt Brewery. A german brewery… in October. Now you can understand. It was loud, and crazy, and exciting, and definitely not the place to be when you’re wine drunk and sleepy. But the pretzels were good and the music was entertaining so I’d definitely visit again!

This blog post just keeps on going because we managed to pack SO MUCH amazing stuff into 3 days. I cannot even believe we did it all and still managed to sleep in! I didn’t even mention walking around Downtown on Friday night and getting food at ~3~ different restaurants before stumbling upon one of the fashion shows of the weekend. Nor did I mention our boujee brunch in Alamo Heights, or walk along the River Walk on Sunday before my flight.

What. A. Weekend.

Very thankful for friends like Ashton and Jenn who are some of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. Miss them being just around the corner but cannot waitttt for more Texas trips to come!

Yee and I cannot stress this enough… haw.

Thanks for reading!!
